How strong is your memory?

A free 10-minute test of the four memory pillars. You play five short tasks, see your score straight away, and get the full report in your inbox.

  • Focus & AttentionStaying on target when the obvious answer pulls you away.
  • Working MemoryHolding information in mind while you rearrange it.
  • Short-Term MemoryRecalling what you saw a moment ago, exactly.
  • Long-Term MemoryBringing back what you learned after a delay.

Your report draws one ring for each pillar. The fuller the ring, the stronger that part of your memory.

What happens in the test

Each task is modelled on a method memory researchers use: the Stroop task, backward digit span, visual pattern recall and delayed recognition. Your level changes how long, how fast and how tricky each one is.

  1. Memory vaultStudy a set of picture and word pairs. You’ll be asked about them at the end.
  2. Colour clashName the ink colour of a word that spells a different colour. Speed counts.
  3. Reverse digitsWatch a string of numbers, then type it back in reverse order.
  4. Flash gridA pattern of squares lights up for a moment. Rebuild it from memory.
  5. Vault recallPick out the pictures you studied and match each one to its word.

This test gives an indicative picture of your memory skills for learning and self-improvement. It is not a medical or psychological diagnosis. If you have concerns about your memory, please speak to a doctor.
